Tana Kickett is a Ballardong Whadjuk Noongar. While she has a strong connection to her home country in the South West of WA, she has lived in Karratha in the Pilbara for more than 24 years. “I acknowledge the Ngarluma people as the traditional owners of the land I live and work on.”  Art has been a passion for as long as Tana can remember and more recently has been drawn to connect to her culture through her paintings.

Creating artwork, gives Tana the opportunity to learn more about her culture – the language, the stories, the people and the connections to the land. Along with her passion for painting she is also a full time Electrical Instrumentation Apprentice, wife and mum of 3.

“Painting and sharing stories with other artists gives me the opportunity to pass on the knowledge I learn to my own children, something that is very important to me.”

Independent Artists

Tana Kickett is an independent artist – not formally aligned with a specific art centre, and whose stories, personal histories and talents are shared through creative illustration on canvas. Independent artists bring a diverse array of styles, techniques and cultural expressions to the exhibition.
