Violet Samson was born in Cheeditha Station in 1949. Her mother and father were Ngarluma. She is a Ngarluma Elder, one of the remaining two traditional owners of the Ngarluma lands, the land of the Saltwater People.

She started painting in 2007. Violet likes to paint about mining companies and wildflowers and seeds and waterholes. She also uses glass to tell her stories.

Independent Artists

Violet Samson is an independent artist – not formally aligned with a specific art centre, and whose stories, personal histories and talents are shared through creative illustration on canvas. Independent artists bring a diverse array of styles, techniques and cultural expressions to the exhibition.
